SEDIN is pleased to have attended 2021 Geneva Watch Days. The renown of the Swiss creativity, innovation and quality in the industry remains undeniably deserved. The creations and inventions are all the more essential to protect in the watchmaking industry. Counterfeiting is a very big issue for the sector due to the attractive quality and design of Swiss watches. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development has estimated that in 2018 the global trade in fake “Swiss” watches amounted to as much as CHF 3.35 billion. It is worth securing intellectual property rights to obtain the monopoly for the use of the various protectable elements of a watch. It is also worth noting that for the “Swiss Made” indication to appear on the outside of a watch, that watch must have a Swiss movement, cased in Switzerland, and the final inspection must have been carried out in Switzerland. Each industry being specific, expertise is required. We gladly assist in ensuring suitable protection.
